How This Dengue Spread?

Dengue mosquitoes are not born with the dengue virus. When a dengue mosquito bites someone who is infected and becomes a carrier of the virus. The mosquitoes carry the virus for life and can infect many people. The virus is called Flavivirus. Flavivirus is transmitted by infected female Aedes mosquitoes. The mosquito becomes infected when it bites a person with Flavivirus in their blood. Only female mosquitoes transmit the dengue virus. They're often found living around sources of stagnant water in built-up areas, such as wells, water storage tanks or old car tyres. Dengue is not spread from person to person. You can get it again if you have had it before, as you will only be immune to one particular variant of the virus.
